Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all property staging services provided by Fanfare NZ Limited (trading as Fanfare Staging), based in Christchurch, New Zealand. By engaging our services, the Client agrees to be bound by the terms below.
1. Staging Term & Extensions
The default staging hire term is 12 weeks commencing on the Installation Date, unless otherwise agreed in writing by Fanfare Staging.
If the Client wishes to retain the furniture beyond the agreed term, an extension may be arranged at our then-current weekly rate, subject to the items not being required for another confirmed booking. Extensions must be requested at least 5 business days before the end of the current term and must be confirmed in writing by Fanfare Staging.
If no extension is agreed and the term expires, Fanfare Staging will arrange collection of all staging items within 7 days of the expiry date, unless a different arrangement is agreed in writing.
2. Payment Terms
An invoice will be issued upon confirmation of the booking. Full payment (including GST) is due prior to the agreed Installation Date. Fanfare Staging reserves the right to withhold installation until payment is received in cleared funds. Preferred payment is by bank transfer. Credit card payment is available but will incur an additional 3% fee.
3. Property Readiness — Client Obligations
The Client must ensure the property is clean and fully ready to receive staging items by the agreed Installation Date. This means the property must be:
- Fully cleaned — vacuumed, mopped, and surfaces wiped throughout.
- Free of all personal belongings, clutter, and existing furniture in areas to be staged.
- Structurally sound and weathertight (windows, doors, and roof in good repair).
- Safe for our team (no hazards, accessible entry, adequate lighting).
If our team arrives and the property is not in suitable condition, we may postpone installation. A call-out fee of between $100 and $350 + GST (at our discretion, depending on circumstances) will apply for any aborted installation caused by property unreadiness. A new installation date will be subject to availability.
4. Early Sale or Early Termination
If the property sells or the Client wishes to end staging before the agreed term:
- The Client must notify Fanfare Staging in writing as soon as the property goes unconditional.
- Collection will be arranged within 5 working days of written notification.
- No refund is provided for unused weeks within the paid staging term.
Cancellation prior to installation with less than 48 hours' notice: a cancellation fee of 30% of the total staging fee (excluding GST) will apply.
5. Access to the Property
The Client agrees to provide Fanfare Staging and its contractors with a key or access code for the duration of the staging term. Access is required for installation, any required visits, and collection. Fanfare Staging will treat all access arrangements with strict confidentiality and will not share access details with any third party.
6. Care of Staging Items
All staging items remain the sole property of Fanfare NZ Limited at all times. The Client and their agents must take reasonable care of all staging items. In particular:
- Staging items must not be moved, rearranged, or removed from the property without written consent from Fanfare Staging.
- No painting, renovation, or repair work may be carried out inside the property while staging items are installed.
- Artwork will be styled by leaning against walls or resting on Fanfare Staging furniture. Fanfare Staging will not hang artwork on walls unless specifically requested in writing by the Client. Where hanging is requested, the Client acknowledges that Fanfare Staging accepts no responsibility for any damage to walls, paintwork, or surfaces caused by hooks or artwork placement, whether installed by Fanfare Staging or otherwise.
- The property must be kept secure when unattended (doors and windows locked).
- Open home attendees must be supervised appropriately and not permitted to handle or move staging items.
7. Damage, Loss & Liability
Fanfare Staging holds contents insurance covering our staging furniture against accidental damage while on site.
In the event of loss, theft, or damage where the Client has failed to keep the property secure or has breached any obligation under these terms:
- For claims under $500: the Client is liable for the full repair or replacement cost.
- For claims $500 and over: the Client is liable for 100% of our insurance excess or the actual cost of the item, whichever is lower.
Fanfare Staging accepts no liability for indirect or consequential loss suffered by the Client. The Client should maintain their own house and contents insurance on the property for the duration of the staging term.
8. Insurance
Fanfare NZ Limited holds (a) contents insurance covering staging furniture and items while installed at the property, and (b) public liability insurance. Certificates of currency are available on request. The Client remains responsible for their own building and house insurance throughout the staging term.
9. Photographs & Intellectual Property
Fanfare Staging may photograph the staged property for use in our portfolio, social media, website, and marketing materials. By engaging our services, the Client grants Fanfare NZ Limited a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use such photographs. No personal information about the Client will be displayed. If the Client does not consent to photography, they must advise in writing before the Installation Date.
10. Rescheduling
Changes to the agreed Installation Date must be requested in writing at least 3 days in advance and are subject to Fanfare Staging's availability. Rescheduling with less than 3 days' notice may incur an additional rescheduling fee of $200 + GST at our discretion.
11. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
Where the Client acquires staging services for the purposes of a trade or business, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 may not apply. Where the Client is a private individual, nothing in these terms limits any rights they may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
12. Disputes & Governing Law
The parties will attempt to resolve any dispute arising under these terms through good-faith negotiation within 14 days of written notice of the dispute. If unresolved, either party may refer the matter to mediation before pursuing formal legal remedies. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
13. Entire Agreement
These terms constitute the entire agreement between Fanfare NZ Limited and the Client in respect of the staging services and supersede all prior discussions, quotes, and representations. Any amendments must be agreed in writing.
